Here Comes the Sun: Date Ideas to Get Your Hearts Outside!

Nothing says fall-in-love as much as the arrival of Spring—and thankfully, Kenedy has put together some perfect get-outside date ideas!

Okay, here’s the good news: you’ve got a hot date coming up.

Maybe it’s with someone new; maybe it’s with a someone you’ve been seeing a while who really sparks up your life and might just possibly be the one. (This sure could be the case.)

After all, it’s springtime which is the time when becoming twittter-pated kicks into full gear—just ask Bambi.

And here’s the even better news: there are lots of great things you and your amazing date can do outdoors.

There are loads of variations on these suggestions or maybe the ideas here give you other totally great thoughts of what to do—whatever the case, the most important thing is to just go do some of these.

If you are asking yourself “Why?”, here’s the answer: getting outdoors nourishes the body, mind and spirit. Who doesn’t feel more invigorated after hanging out at the beach?

So, yes, getting your butt outdoors with your sweetie will probably score you brownie points and help both of you be more present inside yourselves and with each other too!

So without further ado, here’s the list:

Go on a bike ride

Riding bikes is a great way to get exercise together and see the sights at the same time. Most cities and towns have bike paths that meander through nature and urban settings.

Just last week, I went for a bike ride with my girlfriend along the beach.

It was great fun—we stopped several times too to explore sites, have lunch and just hang out.

If you don’t happen to have bikes, you can always rent them—where I live, there is even a service that will deliver the bikes right to wherever you are.

Rent Vespas

The idea of being out on two wheels together excites you, but you want a bit more adventure than just biking. Here’s the perfect solution: go out on Vespas.

You can always rent them if you don’t have them already; you could even just get one for the two of you.

Cruising around off the beaten path on country roads out in nature is classic or just cafe hopping around town while parking your stylish Vespas in front always scores well on the coolness chart.

Go on a picnic

This is something you could easily combine with the bike ride.

However you do it, a picnic is always a treat.

Spending time outdoors while luxuriously relaxing and feeding each other bonbons certainly fans the flames of romance.

You can do it the old-fashioned way and pack a bag of your own goodies—you can also just put together an assortment of items from your favorite grocery store such as Whole Foods.

To go the true gourmet route, there are nice restaurants that offer to-go picnic meals!

Take a stroll through the local botanic gardens

Botanical gardens are fantastic for their specimens of all the local flora and fauna.

They typically aren’t huge so it’s an easy outing and often they have nice spots where you two can just sit and take it in (and maybe makeout if you get lucky!).

Go on a hike

So you like flora and fauna, but you are more crunchy; just give me nature you say.

Well, a good hike should do it for you—it’s a great place to work up a sweat, see some nice vistas and have a good conversation.

Play golf

No matter who you are there is a golf course made for you, from country clubs to municipal courses, there are places to play golf everywhere these days.

And, you can decide just how much of a workout you want: get a cart or carry your bags; nine holes or 18.

Lots of choices.

Even if you have no experience at golf, it’s a great outing—it may be even more fun as you share the adventure of learning something new.

You could even sign up for a couples golf lesson; that would be nice and then you could play a round after that or just hit ball on the practice range.

Play miniature golf

So you like the idea of playing a game of golf, but you’d rather walk less—a lot less.

No problem; head on over to the local mini-golf course.

You can show off your prowess at making those hard to make putts, while maybe even giving or getting some sexy putting tips from your helpful date.

Do a gardening project together

If you two like to play in the dirt, then why not a little gardening?

Plant those bushes. Toil the soil. Trim the roses.

There are all sorts of things that you can do in the garden—maybe even take little lemonade breaks or better yet have a picnic in your own garden!

Do something artistic

Here’s one idea: Pick a theme such as picket fences or old cars and then you both use your smartphones to snap creative photos.

Loads of fun—you’ll enjoy looking at your shots right then and there.

(Later on, you can even make an Instagram album and share it will all your friends.)

Another idea would be to take a couple of sketchpads out to a park and pick something beautiful for both of you to sketch and paint with watercolors.

So there you have it—consider this a list of starter ideas.

Think about them and come up with your own variations on them, if you like.

Whatever you decide to do, I’d love to hear stories about your adventure.
