The Karmic Relationship: A Tool of Spiritual Growth

Gerry Ellen describes the universal pull of the karmic relationship, the benefits of forging your own path and meeting your soul mate along your journey.

Defining this rather complex arrangement between two people begins with the soul mate and potential twin flame revival. We cannot have a karmic relationship with another person unless we travel down the soul’s path with that person, whether in the astral plane or the “real-and-in-person” world. We have a contract to solve with this person, no matter the age difference, the gender difference or ties to family.

If someone comes into your life when you are ready to learn and grow more, this relationship becomes the most important one for finishing up old business. Tending to unfinished contracts with another often takes years and intense work to complete the karma. When the soul began inhabiting a body in this lifetime, it had many prior lifetimes before it was passed down with all of its old habits and rules and generations. The person you meet and resonate with as “familiar” is the soul person who you need to clean up your karma with, whether they are to be your life partner or not.

It is not the easiest of tasks. As a matter of fact, it becomes an all-encompassing reason to ascend into bliss with another soul. The very same soul that demands your attention and respect and love.

“When the student is ready, the teacher will appear,” a set of words that are in harmonic alignment with the karmic relationship. Achieving sameness with your soul mate or twin flame is the epitome of this dynamic. What begins as an intimate and possibly lustful union transcends into a roller coaster ride with confusion, twists, running, chasing, intensity, depth and finally a sense of healing if both parties are willing to stay the course. And that is the tricky part. You cannot complete karma with another, or your own for that matter, without the presence of asking your Higher Power for help in healing the karma in the first place. It takes dedication and openness and love, because in the end and in completion of karma, it is all about love.

My latest journey with a karmic relationship was not a chance encounter. We met, we fell in love, we pushed each other’s buttons in every way and we mirrored every aspect of our dynamic. It was soulful, it was necessary and he embodied all aspects of my own humanness that begged for cleaning up.

Our karma together needed to be healed so we could continue the journey forward.

Time spent apart is the elixir for us to do that. Self-love is the balm that carries both of us into the next phase. My karma from past lives brought him entirely front and center. It was chaotic, loving, intense and hopeful. The only solution to our healing is to work on the unfinished business separately to ensure that we are completely healthy and independent without the drama and the negativity. If the soul is involved, the mistakes made will come full circle, and with forgiveness and lots of asking and praying to the heavens, the karma will be cleansed. This is all part of my path.

Every relationship from the onset has a sense of mystery and intrigue that continues on a path of curiosity and trying to understand the purpose of the union. Without any hidden agendas, a karmic relationship will appear when you least expect it. That is when it is the most rewarding.

Two people who decide to do the traditional dance of meeting, falling in love, getting married, having children and growing old together, have the perfect opportunity to be aware of their karmic ties. Some couples might be so desensitized to the notion of karma within the relationship that they forego the spiritual step of listening and learning and growing into more whole human beings independently before partnering up. They can achieve the union’s destiny while in relationship, yet often it is best to bring your own sense of completeness prior to beginning a karmic relationship.

Because the karmic healing demands full attention and awareness, you cannot ask for a “rushed job” on the soul. It knows when the business is healed, and it is usually after some intense, deep spiritual work. The destiny of completion follows the mirrors and shadows and muck. Oftentimes, karma can come in the presence or form of another person altogether, so the union between the original couple has to be aware and open to allow the business of another to be completed before they can travel down their own paths in union.

More rewards of the karmic relationship include:

  • The chance to cleanse old negative soul lifetimes with another.
  • Achieve a perspective on union and partnership that is more life-affirming, positive and healthy.
  • The opportunity to advance your personal evolution through the dynamic of this relationship.
  • The person you are relating with is your angelic messenger and your self-appointed tutor in this human existence, and tapping into the God-gift of another person is an amazing experience.
  • The most important tool is communication and opening up. Once you have the conversation with the other person about what is happening, and they are in favor of it, the raw soul stuff begins to emerge in ways where the lessons learned mask the violation of the ego.
  • It is a two-way street with service to each other through completing karma. It can be messy from the beginning, but staying the course can be the highest learning experience for both, and the ego takes a back seat to the wholeness of the process.
  • Taking your entire spiritual existence into account on your journey will nurture the presence of letting go, and allow the karmic relationship to flourish despite the obstacles and challenges.

This is the soul work that the Universe wants.

And it just so happens to fall on the time of major transformation as dictated by the heavenly cosmos. This wasn’t planned. This is no accident. This is what our time on this earth is about: karma and all of its consequences and finality. Whether done in relationship or on your own, it is all part of the equation. Calling in your angels and using different tools (crystal healing, working with mediums, basic therapeutic healing with mystics or clairvoyants or traditional therapeutic methods), it all matters in the journey of the karmic relationship.

When you continue to feel as though your business with another is not finished trust your intuition and your heart, and make the steps on your journey towards the inner work. Then travel the path of resistance and depth and make the teacher/student proud. It is not something to be feared. It is a part of the human experience that we all need to be better at being human.
