As part of study, couples were interviewed as they exited marriage licensing bureaus. The reason? Researcher John Molloy wanted to know why men wanted to marry their prospective wives.
The results were fascinating, to say the least. A staggering 68 percent of the men interviewed noted their wife’s class, positivity, energy, enthusiasm and upbeat natures as the most significant contributing factor; while a modest 20 percent noted physical attributes.
Another interesting tidbit: most men reported that their wives were wearing more “appropriate” clothing, rather than something particularly sexy or revealing when they first met. The message these women sent out was that they were “marriage material”—they were willing to be open and authentic about who they are right from the start.
