Sometimes, you just need to keep it close to home; why not bring a date along for the evening? Don’t worry, stay at home dates can be so much more than “netflix and chill.”
Whether dating a new interest or looking to spend quality time with your long-cherished partner, stay-home dates are a delightful and relaxed way to spend time, get to know each other or to get reacquainted. While hosting a stay-home date; tidy up, switch off the phone, settle in, and enjoy each other’s company.
Here are some exciting stay at home date ideas:
1. Make it a Theme Night:
Decide on a theme for your date and center everything around it. For example, if you plan on an Italian theme, you could eat spaghetti, homemade pizza, a bottle of Chianti, gelato; then watch a movie like The Italian Job or Life is Beautiful and dress up accordingly, too.
2. Plan a Camp Out in the Living Room:
Get cozy with your date with lots of pillows, blankets, snacks, and movies. Get a little silly, it is super fun to enjoy the little things in life. Or turn your living room into a camp site—tent, camping chairs, blankets, turn off the lights and use flashlights. For dinner, make tin foil meals in your oven.
3. Dine by Candlelight:
Dress up in your favorite clothes, wear the most sensual perfume, set up the place with candle lights, soft music, and fine wine. Set the table with silverware and delicious aphrodisiac items like oysters with a red wine vinegar dressing, a chocolate desert and champagne.
4. Cook Together:
Try making something new and exotic, something you’ve never tried before but always wanted to like Thai green curry, or try your hand at baking a cake or cookies. Turn on the music and hum around the kitchen together, then settle down with a bottle to enjoy your spoils.
5. Play Bartender:
Arrange for some equipment and some key ingredients for different types of cocktails and try your hand at some saucy concoctions. Choose your favorite alcohol—gin, vodka or tequila—as a base for all your cocktails and add on a variety of mixers and exotic fruits.
6. Get Physical:
Get in shape by competing each other in a workout, E.g. who can do more push-ups, walk on the treadmill longer or perform the various yoga poses—or, do couples yoga together. Studies suggest that competition can really crank up the libido.
7. Dance the Night Away:
Dancing has all the intimacy of a romantic date; turn down the lights, turn up the music, and lose yourself in each other’s arms.
8. Make Playlists & DIY Photoshoot:
Take out your laptops and iPods and make playlists for each other, the next time your date listens to it while driving or at the gym, he/she will not be able to get their mind off you. Shoot snaps of yourselves together in various rooms of your home to create memories you can always cherish.
9. Watch the Stars:
Get cozy in a blanket with a bottle of wine or thermos of coffee, and stargaze from an attic window that offers a good view of the sky.
10. Reconnect Between the Sheets:
Each of you can write down three of your sexual fancies on separate pieces of paper. Fold them, mix them up, take turns in picking up, agreeing to give each other’s wishes a try.
