6 Ways to Nurture Your Heart This Spring

Spring is the season of new beginnings, so we’d like to start with a clean slate. We’ve got six spring cleaning suggestions to nurture that beautiful heart.

The transition months are the most exciting and nourishing times of year. Although they last for as long as the other seasons, there is a lingering freshness about how everything in nature takes on a new growth and an even cleaner appeal.

The colors, the aromas, the warmth of the air, and our own feelings of change are what the spring months bring. It is as if we come alive with a zest from the darker days and cold months of winter; brought out is an uncluttered version of ourselves, ready to be presented to the world. It starts within.

After years of healing and regeneration, our hearts opt to participate in the blooming of spring. Whenever the hunkering down and hibernation period is over, the heart turns up the volume of its beat and vibration. We are in a new year, a new cycle, and a new spirit of love and attraction. Spring is the time to pick up the pace of movement and show the world every vibrant piece of what we are made of.

This is, by and far away, my favorite time of year.

I am a flower junkie, through and through. Although most blooms happen at various times throughout the year in California, it always leaves me in wonder and awe at the resiliency of the roots of each species, and how we cannot take any of it for granted.

The same goes for our own beating, wonderful hearts. We have to wipe the slate clean, get rid of the old gunk, give it some love, and receive the very warmth that the heart is meant to have every single day. I have a few cleansing ideas on how we can help with the process of ushering in the season of spring knowing that it is our incredibly grateful heart that will benefit.

Treat YOU to a Spa Day

This doesn’t have to be a gazillion dollar blowout at a resort at all. Simple and soothing actions of care can be done at home, too.

Lingering in the tub with soft music and bubbles and candles. Scrubbing the dead skin off your feet. Getting a sassy hair cut (both sexes can have a sass in their style, too!). Using different lotions and potions that have a peaceful aroma, and actually taking the time to massage your feet and body parts with the purpose of revitalization. Applying a facial mask and reading a book while it’s nourishing your skin. So many options for self care in the spa day regimen.

Blood, Sweat, & Tears

A motivated series of exercise sessions to waste away leftover, unwanted layers from winter, internally and externally.

There is nothing better than to feel your heart pumping in the healthiest of ways. Cardiovascular work is the epitome of cleansing and strengthening our tickers to ensure we are always prepared to accept all love with vim and vigor.

Unfinished Business

Any remnants of past heartaches or breakups, or perhaps some relationship in motion left unattended, needs to be completed and healed and done with. Once the new season takes off, there is no room for haunted murmurings that create unwanted and unnecessary pains of the heart. If it is cleaned up in a respectful, compassionate, and forgiving manner, this is the time to move on and finish the business from the past.

Play in the Rain

Have you ever watched a child or a dog splash through puddles and feel so unencumbered by the elements? It’s a joy to be in that energetic presence, even more so when they come inside. They jump around from room to room, excited at the cleansing of their bodies and minds, and it’s definitely a spirit we can mimic. Being out in the rain is one of the most renewing and enriching feelings for the entire body.

Love & More Love

Spring is the season of new beginnings! If you aren’t in love with another, or loving yourself beyond your wildest dreams, now is the time. The most meaningful way is to be of service to others. Whether it is a purpose or a passion, the more you give and share love, the more it will come full circle. Karma is in high mode right now, so best to jump on the love wagon and make it extraordinary and special.

Give Thanks

Gratitude is the cornerstone of enormous possibilities. When your heart is filled with this virtue, love and compassion are sent out into the world as a warrior for peace and all of humanity. Every morning, set aside quiet reflection time to give thanks for who you are, what you have, and the many supportive people in your life. This is the greatest gift to others and your heart.

“One kind word can warm three winter months” —a Japanese proverb that goes straight to the heart of purity. Spending moments to take stock of what’s on the inside during the shedding process is why this season is ready to be the best yet. After the eclipses of March, it’s all systems a-go with our fresh beating hearts!
